A little about the musician...Smiley Chris is not only a dynamic hip-hop artist, songwriter, owner of Whatz Good Studios, and producer – he’s also one of the coolest liberty loving dudes you’ll ever meet. Driven by the belief that “Good” music can change the world for the better, Smiley brings a unique and refreshing style of positive hip-hop to the liberty movement. His 20-track demo album “Works of Heart,” however, doesn’t steer away from controversial topics; it delves into love, heartbreak, friendship, family, war, liberty, revolution, and corruption.
Growing up in Freeport, New York, Smiley Chris has been recording alternative hip-hop songs with his brother Brian J Halton and their friends since his high school days. While attending Siena College, Smiley developed his love for the arts by acting in various plays and performing his songs in front of live audiences. “War! Now I Know Why They’re Making Us Fight,” Smiley’s scathing critique of the Iraq War, was re-written into a spectacular full-scale production by the school, with actors acting out Smiley’s lyrics while he performed them. In late 2011, Smiley Chris witnessed the mainstream media’s shameless attempts to black out Dr. Ron Paul’s message. This inspired him to write a song to counter the media’s smear attempts and lies. On January 1st 2012, two days before the Iowa Primary was stolen from the good doctor, Smiley Chris released the music video for his song “America’s Choice: Liberty or Death (Ron Paul 2012),” which went viral overnight. It currently has been viewed hundreds of thousands of times online. Smiley was amazed to witness the power of “Good” music and decided to follow his video up with “We Need a Doctor,” a remake of Eminem and Dr. Dre’s “I Need a Doctor” with a Ron Paul twist. Other crowd favorites of his include “Prison of the Mind, Body, and Soul” and “Paul Bot Party.” Smiley Chris is currently working hard on his 12-track, debut album “Revolution Raps” with his brother Brian J Halton. He loves to perform at liberty events and currently has performances booked across the country in places like Texas, Boston, and New York. He is forever grateful for all the amazing and kindhearted people in his life who have helped him grow into the artist he is today. Excited about the future, Smiley is confident that, once complete, “Revolution Raps” will spread the message of liberty far and wide, even into the hard to reach places. “Good” music speaks to the soul and can truly change the world for the better! |
